Obama for President

Obama_sioux_citywm203 As you've heard by now, today the Obama campaign announced that I've endorsed the Senator.  I think he's the right guy to unify our party and our country.  I hold much respect for the Clintons and their contributions to this country.  However, this race is clearly headed in one direction and it's time for us to coalesce around one candidate.

In addition to being able to give you a view from the "inside" of a Superdelegate's world (honestly, we are not that Super) it's been great to read your thoughts and opinions.  Supporters on both sides played a part in this declaration.

The reason I held out these past few months was due to my working for a candidate who was up for election this week, and I didn't want my politics to get in the way of hers (I hope this adds more insight as to why some Supers wait).  I announced that I was the author of this page yesterday, knowing that I would endorse soon and thus changing the entire premise of the site.

I will continue to regularly update this site through the nomination process, and I have had a few friends who work in politics offer to help carry the editorial weight.  So we'll see how it works out.

In the meantime, the attached image is one that I took in Sioux City, Iowa on caucus night this year.  It's a little out of focus, but I think it makes a statement.  Draw your own conclusions.

Cheers,

-Ed.

Thanks for declaring! We need more super delegates to declare so that we can move on as a party and focus on getting back the White House.

Heh, just as I was reading a story and wanted to double check that it was you, you post this.

How do you think we random internet denizens can best push for party unity now?

Dear Mr. Super (I am too used to calling you this to change now),

Thank you for endorsing now. That is an interesting reason to stay uncommitted that I had not thought about.

The photo is perfect!

Excellent choice! And I look forward to the continued interesting posts from this blog.

OBAMA08!

As an Obama supporter, I certainly appreciate your endorsement. Looks like a lot of supers are coming out today!

7 today and counting!! woo-hoo!

Thanks, Mr. Super!

Thanks ED for your endorsement.
I donated another $50 for BO.
Now fight against GOP.

Thank you Ed, for supporting Obama. I had a feeling you were going to endorse someone once you became un-anonymous. Perhaps your endorsement will encourage other CA DNC members who are undeclared or who are wavering from their Clinton endorsement. I'm just wondering if your endorsement today was related to the Jed plan for SDs to endorse before May 20. Just curious if SDs are going along with that concept.

Thank you Mr. Super you have been well...SUPER!
Opening up the process to us, the voters, and sharing your thoughts with us and in turn allowing us to share our thoughts and feelings has been invaluable. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this blog.
Obama 08

Glad you are supporting Obama. Now, on to November!

Thanks Mr. Super! I would love to see this turned into a group blog focused on transparency and organizing. Your unvarnished glimpses into the process really did a lot to bolster my confidence in our party leaders.

News travel fast. I read it elsewhere before you posted it on your blog. Thank you so much for your wisdom and for being a great part of this primary election through your blog.

Before Obsms got into this race, the conventional wisdom said students/youths don't vote, that white folks and brown folks don't vote for black candidates. Obama proved them wrong. He'll do it again in the general election. Sceptics should forget everything they think they knew about voters.

Apparently some haven't learned a lesson. The general election will shut thand brown vote for staying in touch with us throughout the primary. keeping us informed throughout the , Mr. Super.

I, along with others, have been saying that it is time to begin defining McCain. Now that the Democratic nomination if effectively over in the minds of the establishment media I notice the bright lights now shining on McCain. Isn't this the ideal time for the Democrats to begin defining the narrative about John McCain?

Already with the faux outrage over the "Losing his Bearings" I see a little misstep by McCain. We should probably thank Mark Salter for bringing up the issue of age. Heh. But Salter, as much as McCain, is known for his temper.

Well lets hope the American people agree with Thad Cochran and they don't want McCain anywhere near the Presidency.

I hope you and your friends are able to provide more content at least through November.

I realize you may not have any inside information, but how long before a VP candidate is announced? Do you think they will have the person identified and announced before the 4th of July?

Thanks, Ed, for making a decision for party unity. You waited until the right time, until the numbers were all but inevitable. I trust your endorsement will spur others, for the same reasoning.

I remember sitting with Ben in New Hampshire as we heard the Iowa caucus numbers, and Ben commenting, "Obama is the real deal." Now, on to defeat Senator McSame.

Thanks Ed... er, Mr. Super. Good choice.

Now lets work on Bob Mulholland!

By the way can we call you Super Ed, or maybe Mr. Ed? oh wait... nevermind.

> Already with the faux outrage over the "Losing his Bearings" I see a little misstep by McCain. We should probably thank Mark Salter for bringing up the issue of age. Heh. But Salter, as much as McCain, is known for his temper.

He's probably hoping for a backlash among older voters. I think they're smarter than that. And I'm not sure how it helps him to put it out there.

Anger is another good issue. Paint him as a bitter old man and give him what happened with Dean (undeserved, but effective in that case; in this case, more deserved, I think).

Also, remind him of what the Republicans did to him in 2000. The SAME Republicans he's embracing now. At that time, I had no idea about how they organized the whisper campaign to smear his adopted daughter. That he'd accept Rove's help is unreasonable to me. I really feel like that should be a touchy issue.

And if he blows up when he hears it, well, that only helps you paint him as a bitter, old crank...

Just, umm, don't piss off the older voters doing that.

Mr. Super,

Thanks for endorsing. I knew you were an Obama guy early on, when you took a hard line and stuck to the rules on the MI and FL delegate issue. A Clinton supporter would never have done that.

This is certainly no surprise to me. It was obvious to anyone that could read that you favored Obama from the start. As for your other naive partisans, the fall election will not be a cakewalk for a candidate with no record, no experience and quite a bit of problems. They picked their best candidate from a weak field and we picked our worst from a strong one. I guess that makes it almost even.

Poor decision on your part, how unfortunate.

Ed, thank you SO much for declaring who you're voting for! What a SIGH of relief to see this campaign coming to an end (hopefully!). Even if you would have never declared today, I truly appreciate you making time for this blog, and conveniently connecting with people all over the U.S. Truly, what we desire and appreciate is honesty in a "relate-able" way. Well...we'll see what's going to happen in the next few weeks. I'm looking forward to continue reading your blogs.

I feel compelled to comment...are those posters above, Micah and Jay Republicans or Democrats? If they are democrats that is very sad. We have McCain to deal with, it is time to support our candidate because the people have spoken. We don't have time to be sore losers here and scold the superdelegates who made a well thought out decision. The people have elected their candidate and given that candidate the most pledged delegates and popular vote. That is how our Democratic Party System is set up. We need to support not only our selected candidate but also the Superdelegates who are supporting the democratic party system as it was meant to work. We cannot chose our nominee by saying "oh but our candidate will be better" even though, "she had less elected delegates', "less popular vote" etc. We cannot chose our candidate by trying to include the vote as it occurred in Michigan and Florida by changing the party rules and going against the very party that enforced those rules in the first place, the very rules that candidate agreed to AND then try to twist the arms of the superdelegates with that argument? I would encourage Clinton supporters to think long and hard at what is really at stake here. The people have spoken and the Clinton argument of electability is bogus. We need to move on and support our candidate NOW.... KUDOS to all the superdelegates who were challenged with this task and responsibility...A big thank you..
My faith in the system has been restored
I will be at the Maine State Convention supporting Obama last weekend in May. Can't Wait....

Mr. Super (Ed)
Thanks for making the right choice
PS enjoy the blog

Yeaaaaah!!
I guess .........HOPE FLOATS......
Our future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

:-) :-)

Thank you so very much for supporting Senator Obama.

Response to Susan above- I am an active Democrat. In fact, I am a party official. However, I put my country first. I always have done so and when I walk into the voting booth my decision will be my own.

Jay-

Try checking out the forest...It's all around that tree you've been focused on.

Go Dems '08!
